Wk1-1 DB Quickies: DIY Classroom/Presentation Solutions

Photograph By: Deborah Sanders

One particular workshop day the school’s projector would not operate and I was asked to bring my projector to the workshop.  I thought, “No problem.”  However, there was a problem -- my projector would not work.  It worked at home and in my class, but not in the multi-purpose room.  We checked everything, but nothing seemed to work.  Having a presenter and not having the equipment for the presenter to use was an embarrassing situation for our school.  The presenter had a DVD that connected to the company’s web page.  Finally, I asked for the DVD and I was advised, “It will not work unless you are connected to the Internet.”  The DVD was inserted without the projector being connected to the PC, which was connected to the Internet.  Out of nowhere the DVD projected the appropriate videos on the screen.  The computer teacher, the tech coordinator and I could figure out how the projector worked without the feed to the Internet.
